about

Who we are

ReCig is a non-profit organization, founded in Hoboken, New Jersey by a group of passionate college students who noticed the immense amount of waste produced by disposable vapes in our community and beyond. Shocked by how few resources there are on how to dispose of vapes and e-cigarettes properly, we wanted to create a comprehensive platform with educational materials to not only educate and inform individuals - especially young students - about the environmental impact of vape devices, but also to provide information on where and how to dispose of them properly.

Our mission

ReCig’s primary mission is to educate people on the environmental hazards caused by vaping and to encourage them to recycle their E-cigarettes safely. We have made it our mission to spread awareness about the ecological damage caused by the irresponsible disposal of vaping products and to help people fight against environmental degradation. Recycling lithium-ion batteries is particularly important for the electric economy, and we are proud to play a leading role in education on responsible reuse of this hazardous material.

Despite an ongoing lack of convenient, well-known sites for used vape drop-off and recycling systems that actually work (most vapes that are diverted from landfills have been incinerated), ReCig is committed to helping solve the problem through education, providing resources, and helping collect used vape devices to dispose of them as safely as possible.
